Healing the Developing Human From Childhood through Illness to Initiation

From the moment we are embodied on earth, we are humans in the becoming, only ever striving towards true humanity. First we are met by the parental and pedagogical principles around us which, if rightly informed, bring healing towards our development. When we are adults, each illness, each life challenge asks of us further steps in this development: a renewed self-education of body, soul, and spirit. When we commit to this path consciously, taking on our own development, we are saying yes to a path of initiation. When we as nurses, doctors, and therapists encounter our patients in their own illnesses and crises, the therapeutic and healing intervention can be a catalyst for their own path towards initiation. We as healers have Raphael-Mercury as our guide in this transformation of illness into forces of development. The healing art then becomes the art of initiation.

Joined by our guest lecturer, Prof. David Martin, we want to explore the realities behind child development both in health and pathology. We also want to look at how this continues into adulthood with professional trainings and a commitment to an inner path. Beyond this, we will look at what it means that we as healers engage in the biographical processes of our patients and are asked to mediate the initiatory Raphaelic forces to bring illness into movement and a new step for the patient. There will be small group work on these themes as well as artistic activities and practical updates. Please note change in venue. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are not able to have out conference at Emerson College, so will return to Hereford Steiner Academy again, who always host us with great catering and wonderful spaces for our work. 

Anyone with a professional relationship to the medical and therapeutic world is invited, and we also invite our colleagues in the Pedagogical Section and the Section for Inclusive Social Development as we feel the theme is relevant to their work.
