The Gifts of Deeper Developmental Needs with Dr Blanning

The course speaks about “gifts” because while the outer conditions of children’s lives are quickly shifting, the core processes for healthy incarnation and development remain the same.

And when we look at the destinies of today’s children and teachers, it is striking to see how earnestly working with the challenge of one child’s specific learning needs often pushes us to make change that actually benefits all children you are working with. We will discuss ways to search for and recognize those gifts. For example:

Children who need a lot of repetition and who continuously seek big movements (“feebled” movement patterns)help remind us about the importance of rhythmic anchoring in the body and of doing practical tasks

Children who tend towards superficial restlessness (“maniacal” movement patterns) help remind us to build real experiences of reverence

We can learn about the importance of connecting to the natural world from children who consciousness get stuck inside themselves (“epileptic” sensing pattern)

We can be reminded about focusing on the essential and trying to be fully present by children who tend to get overstimulated and overwhelmed (“hysteric” sensing pattern).

The goal of the course is to support you in exploring these patterns and gifts for yourself.
